Job Description
As a result of our successful project awards, our renewables group is rapidly expanding; therefore, Mott Macdonald is seeking a civil designer to join our team.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Create drawings and prepare 2D drawing packages from the design models without direction.
- With minimal supervision utilize Civil 3D to create alignments, corridors and feature lines to produce civil grading and roadway models for engineering team to review.
- Prepare material quantities (cut/fill volumes, etc.) from the Civil 3D model files.
- Develop technical drawings from sketches (determining appropriate scales, arrangement, and specific details of the drawings) from the concepts required by the engineering team.
- Basic understanding and concepts for Site Grading & Storm Drainage and Erosion and Sediment Control.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and the project engineering team for structural and electrical design requirements.
- Respect and enforce policies and procedures in the preparation of drawings.
- Realize the different stages of the project in the timeframes and budgets.
Candidate Specification
To be considered for this position, you'll need:
- Hold an associates or higher degree in automated drawing or civil engineering technology or in a related field.
- Have minimum of six months of experience in civil drafting and/or engineering.
- Experience working in construction, an asset.
- Have good communication skills (oral and written).
- Excellent knowledge of 2D AutoCAD software.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D software
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work to meet cost objectives, quality and deadlines.
- Time management skills and adaptation to change.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
