Position: Quality Control Technician

Direct Supervisor: QA & QC Supervisors
Schedule: Day Shift. Overtime & Extended hours as needed. Saturdays as needed.
Compensation: Training Wage- $16.78/hr; Base Wage- $17.28/hr
Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonuses, Referral Bonuses

POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Control Technician at Mount Adams Fruit ensures either directly or indirectly that all packed fruit is shipped in accordance to customer specifications regarding fruit quality, packaging integrity, and quantity purchased. The Quality Control Technician, if qualified, will primarily work in our cold room and must be a good decision maker.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Coordinates packed boxes to the QC station in the Cold Room.
- De-stacks pallets and opens boxes to view and physically inspect the quality of fruit.
- Reviews fruit for various quality attributes.
- Reviews fruit quality for each shipping order to ensure that packed fruit meets customer specification.
- Inspects, on a daily basis, packed fruit to detect premature aging.
- Checks the atmosphere in lifespan bags.
- Monitors test packaging trials including; paper, fiber and quality levels and reports results to management.
- Communicates fruit grades and quality with upper management.
- Bring immediate concerns or question to QA & QC Supervisors.
- Monitors honey crisp fruit quality by monitoring storage practices, acid testing and reporting information to management.
- Monitors fruit inventories, based on quality levels and relays to management.
- Inspects packaged fruit quality including boxes, ink, glue, codes, and packaging medium. Reports any problems to management.
- Keeps various records and reports Quality Data.
- Separates and quarantines low quality fruit to be repackaged.
- Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Regularly required to stand and move about the facility. The technician will be required to be able to read documents and computer screens. This position includes exposure to facility and environmental elements such as noise, high heat, near freezing temperatures, humidity and odors. Ability to lift and pull boxes full of fruit on a regular basis that weigh 40-50 pound and sometimes lift overhead. Open, inspect, and examine fruit inside boxes.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Prefer High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience as a QC Technician.
