About Mount Mercy

Mount Mercy University is a Catholic, coeducational University founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1928 enrol-ling approximately 1450 students. The University offers a variety of liberal arts, professional, accelerated and graduate degree programs on a picturesque campus overlooking the city.

Mount Mercy University is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Help Desk Technician in the Infor-mation Technology Services division. This position reports to the Interim Director of Information Technology. This is a full-time Exempt (salary) position. Hours range from 7am to 6pm M-F.


Primary Function

This position will provide technical support to Faculty, Staff and Students. Responsibilities are for the comple-tion of Help Desk tickets and calls made to Help Desk pertaining to, but not limited to Hardware, Software, vi-rus removal, training assistance to users, troubleshooting problems with campus technology.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Respond to technical issues and needs of Mount Mercy faculty, staff, and students in a timely and pro-fessional manner.
  • Assist/Backup Hardware Technician with hardware installations and PC deployments.
  • Assist/Backup Systems Administrator with networking and client-related solutions.
  • Provide support to the Traditional, Advanced Degree and Graduate Degree programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a business-related field, or 3-5 years equivalent combination of education and ex-perience necessary to perform job responsibilities
  • Higher education work experience preferred
  • Proficiency in networking terminology and troubleshooting basic network-related problems
  • Comprehensive ability to troubleshoot and resolve Windows-based PC hardware and software issues
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Able to support and maintain Windows Server 2019 and later
  • Experience in a Help Desk setting (assist users troubleshooting daily problems)
  • Basic understanding of Cisco networking equipment very helpful
  • Photography/Graphic Design Lab in a Macintosh lab and experience with Macs is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 Operating System
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 2016 applications or later
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating poise, and enthusiasm for MMU
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills required
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines required
