The LPN assists Aides in providing hands-on care to retired Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph (CSJ) residing or convalescing at Mount St. Joseph under the model of Resident-Centered Living. We offer a very low resident ratio in a congregate living environment. We are not a nursing home or skilled care facility; many Sisters live independently or with only light assistance needed.
The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) works under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) to assist with day-to-day functions within the nursing department in order to improve the efficiency of the working team and the quality of life and care provided to the residents. The LPN/LVN may function in the capacity of a Charge Nurse, depending on the size and configuration of the building. In the absence of the DON, the LPN/LVN may provide general oversight to the nursing staff to ensure provision of quality customer service and compliance with federal and/or state rules and regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE, and EDUCATION:
- Must possess strong professional written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize issues.
- Strong leadership and supervision skills.
- Insight to know when and how to initiate and/or implement change.
- Basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Power Point, and electronic health record documentation.
- Able to use basic office equipment including, but not limited to telephone system, fax machines, photocopier, etc.
- Graduate of an accredited licensed practical/vocational nursing program with active, unencumbered LPN/LVN license to practice nursing in the applicable state.
- Experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
Successful applicants must pass state-required drug and background screens and have proof of COVID vaccination.
