Job Summary Job Description LOCATION Mountain America Center: 9800 S Monroe St Sandy, UT 84070 SCHEDULE Pat Time -------------------- To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully: · Monitors workouts and exercise routines. · Works alongside Wellness Coordinator on wellness programs and initiatives. · Provides individualized instruction while leading the entire group fitness class. · Provides a safe group fitness class with a variety of movement. · Attempts to know each exercise participant’s name and their individual fitness goals. · Inspires each participant to achieve his or her individual fitness goals. · Ensures that personal or mechanical problems do not detract from the team member’s positive group fitness experience. · Varies exercise routines while complying with established formats and standards. · Exercises routines, music and class format must be designed according to The Fitness Group, ACE, BCRPA or ACSM guidelines. · Monitors and records class attendance. · Maintains music and microphone volume at an acceptable level. · Greets each member and guest with a smile and personalized comment. · Arrives early to class and stay after class to answer participant’s questions. · Circulates around the exercise area while instructing. · Actively seeks team member and guest needs and concerns and uses this information to provide appropriate motivation. · Develops relationships with members and encourages success of their personal fitness goals in order to strengthen bond with the club. · Assists in promoting other health and fitness related programs each class. · Advises facility of specific exercise areas requiring attention. · Completes class checklist for area cleanliness. · Complies with established dress code. · Attends all scheduled meetings and training workshops. · Facilitates and supports wellness initiatives in coordination with MACU staff. · Encourages, engages and promotes a positive healthy fitness lifestyle. · Develops and delivers safe, effective and exciting training programs within the guidelines of our corporate philosophy. · Maintains a clean and orderly exercise floor area and equipment. · Promotes, maintains and exemplifies the Mountain America brand and wellness · Performs other duties as assigned. Fitness Instruction and supervision of team members: · Assists, motivates and educates all members on use of machines and personal fitness goals. · Proactively approach every member to ensure proper training techniques are followed. · Maintains a safe, productive and inviting exercise environment for employees KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Currently has or working towards First Aid certification. Currently working towards BCRPA certification and registration, Nationally Recognized Personal Trainer Certification: (i.e. ISSA, NASM, ACE, ACSM), or equivalency. Education Currently working on degree in Exercise Sports Science, Kinesiology, or similar field Personal Skills Dependable and punctual Strong leadership qualities. Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational with large groups Professional manner and appearance Basic practical knowledge of human anatomy and kinesiology Organized and creative Good verbal and interpersonal skills Computer/Office Equipment Skills Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, ability to learn applicable software required for role. Managerial Responsibility No managerial responsibility Language Skills Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, members, or clients. Other Skills and Abilities Self-Motivated, Detail oriented, Organizational ability and follow through are required. Requires flexible scheduling that may include early morning and evening classes.
