Job Summary:
The Physician Liaison is responsible for the recruitment and provision of new patients to Movement for Life Physical Therapy by creating and nurturing relationships with a variety of external referral sources through coordinating marketing activities and using a consultative sales approach. Primary call points are physicians, referral coordinators, nurses, & office managers. This position is responsible for building and growing professional relationships that recruit physical therapy referrals by uncovering the needs of referral sources, positioning Movement for Life Physical Therapy as PT provider of choice, strengthening physician relationships and bringing value to our physician partners. The role acts as a liaison between referral sources and Movement for Life Physical Therapy internal staff: Physical Therapists, front desk staff and billing office staff. Individuals will prepare referral data reports based on activity and review findings with leadership. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, ambitious, positive-minded, hardworking, demonstrate humble confidence and have an aptitude for building referral relationships within their assigned region.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Seek & establish new physician referral relationships = 40%
- Maintain & grow existing referral relationships = 30%
- Collect & analyze referral statistics and enter/track data of all statistics applicable to role = 15%
- Promote community awareness through event collaboration & additional duties assigned by supervisor = 10%
- Collaborate & assist with online marketing campaigns and initiatives = 5%
Essential Functions:
- Develop and grow strong relationships with direct referral sources through scheduled account visits to recruit new patient referrals – with a minimum of 50 Contact Touches per week.
- Conduct face to face and/or virtual sales calls and presentations to referral sources, introducing Physical Therapy services and new service lines.
- Obtain, interpret, and analyze physician referral data.
- Maintain an effective field activity tracking system to document calls, call notes and activities.
- Resolve physician customer service calls, taking initiative to make decisions within authorized scope of responsibility, or directing decision making to the proper authority.
- Follow up on specific questions, areas of interest, and/or concerns expressed by referral sources.
- Facilitate introduction of new referring physicians/office managers to Movement for Life Physical Therapy. Ensures all new referral sources receive appropriate and timely educational information (ie: bio on PT staff, patient outcomes data, tour of clinics, set up meeting with clinical team, etc.)
- Works with organization leadership on referral source retention & growth strategies.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly reports and reviews findings with clinic managers and staff.
- Aids in identifying referral growth strategy, setting referral growth goals, calculating referral forecasts, and creating plans toward increased market penetration.
- Act as liaison between physicians, their office manager/support staff and the clinic,
- Actively demonstrates commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Actively participates in educational activities/self-development to enhance professional growth.
- Maintains professional appearance and conduct as established by the organization.
- Encourages and maintains confidentiality in all interaction with physicians/providers.
