Technical Service Manager, Architecture Building Systems (Hybrid)

ms consultants is seeking an experienced Architectural Technical Service Manager to complement our growing Building Systems team. We’re looking for a technical expert who has the ability to be a manager and mentor to the Building Systems Architectural team. This person would be a capable leader who can manage and motivate teams to provide high-quality, technical deliverables on time and on budget.

What You'll Do
Specific responsibilities include:
- Responsible for professional growth and development for the service groups’ Architectural staff. This would include conducting monthly one-on-one meetings with technical staff and longer-term assignments for staff to encourage growth.
- Manage the team’s technical skill sets, capabilities, areas for improvement, and annual development goals.
- Assist on proposals in cooperation with Project Managers as it relates to scope, schedule, and budget to perform the required scope.
- Complete quarterly reporting on hiring, efficiency, turnover, project performance, and project quality. Manage staff project assignment to meet the corporate goal of 80% staff utilization.
- Develop strong strategic alliances with sub-consultants.
- Maintain a professional network of industry peers to identify potential talent to join the firm.
- Coordinate with Project Manager’s needs to expand into new technical offerings, such as new building types, designs, or services (including: energy modeling, 3D scanning).
- Be active and involved within the industry which would include speaking at regional conferences, writing technical articles, and submittal for award recognition with the assistance of the marketing department.
- Responsible for the creation of and maintenance of technical quality standards for the team and ensuring standards are consistently met. Manage resource loading for upcoming projects.
What You'll Bring
Education and
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an NCARB certified institution and proven related experience equivalent
- Experience managing a technical team in a collaborative, matrixed team environment.
- Preferred Registered Architect.
- Master’s degree preferred, but not required
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience hiring and leading a team as well as evidence of success.
- Knowledge of coordinating engineering and architecture of complex building projects
- Practical familiarity with ICC building codes and ASCE standards
- LEED and Green Globes experience and credentials preferred
