We are looking for an Engineer Manager for our Global Manufacturing Engineering department! This position manages a multi-disciplined team of Manufacturing Engineers for plastic, rubber, and metals tools; in addition to manual and automatic process equipment, including robotics. The role is accountable for the performance and results of the Manufacturing Engineering and adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
- Lead a Manufacturing Engineering team, maintaining the right mix of skills, staff size, and individual development activities to achieve organizational objectives; collaboratively set objectives for staff members, monitor progress, and provide coaching and support to achieve desired results; develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Actively advocate EHS philosophies in all aspects of manufacturing and service operations, adhering to company and site-specific safety policies, practices, and programs.
- Articulate a continuous improvement vision from a value stream perspective. Champion the timely and appropriate use of the MSA Operating System tools and behaviors, such as Kaizen, 6S Workplace Organization, SMED, Continuous Flow, Kanban, Problem Solving, Standard Work, Visual Controls, KPI Metrics and Action Trackers.
- Develops programs and strategies for engineeirng and/or research of new or existing products.
- Effectively communicates information (both technical and administrative) to staff and senior management on an ongoing basis.
- Collaborates with direct reports to establish developmental goals and plans. Creates learning opportunities and monitors progress toward these goals. Ensures that employee development process is continuous.
- Remains open to new ideas and champions innovation.
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
Proven ability to manage and lead engineering teams, promoting teamwork and individual accountability- Ability to understand and utilize state-of-the-art enabling technologies and manufacturing processes to improve existing production processes and develop production for new, innovative products
- Ability to drive organizational and cultural changes as we adapt to evolving customer needs, technology advances and internal initiatives
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Demonstrated and thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions and drive change.
- Excellent decision-making skills including the ability to identify project obstacles creatively develop alternative solutions and make recommendations on course of action for approval, follow through on course of action.
- Up to 10% domestic travel
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or relevant discipline, preferably from an ABET accredited program.
Experience Required:

Level I: 8 years relevant experience required
- Level II: 10 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in direct staff management.
- MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience. PhD may be substituted for up to 4 years of equivalent experience.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Advanced degree
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Industry 4.0 Certification
