JOB TITLE: Accountant I - II
GAMING LICENSE REQUIRED: Class III A
GRADE: E15 - E16 / $65,692 - $70,990
STATUS: Salary, Non-Exempt
POSITION REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Accountant I-IV is responsible for preparing journal entries with supporting documentation (excluding revenue, AP accruals, payroll and fixed asset entries) in accordance with GAAP. Preparing monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts. Reconciling cash activity throughout month. Team responsibility to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to departments and other key stakeholders and always strives to meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to maximize services provided. The Accountant I-IV is also responsible for ad-hoc tasks required by management including, but not limited to, research, analysis, and reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements describe the general nature and level of work only. They are not an exhaustive list of all required responsibilities, duties, and skills. Other duties may be added, or this description amended at any time.
1.Practice, support and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Muckleshoot Casino.
2.Reconcile general ledger accounts and monthly analysis of balance sheet and income statement.
3.Reconcile bank accounts from the statement to the general ledger.
4.Reconcile ATM kiosks, cash advance payout from back office report to funding statement
5.Reconcile monthly medical, dental and other benefits. Reviews payment of benefit invoices.
6.Prepare journal entries for all accounts with supporting documentation (excluding revenue, AP accruals, payroll and fixed asset entries) in accordance with GAAP
7.Calculate allocations for monthly distribution
8.Complete Roll forwards; Fixed Assets, Equity, Casino
9.Complete complex balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
10.Generate general ledger reports as needed.
11.Investigate and resolve financial statement questions from departments
12.Promote, develop and maintain effective communication, interaction, and excellent relationship with internal customers, including ensuring their requirements are identified and consistently met.
13.Print and distribute monthly financial statements.
14.Filing of all general ledger paperwork and financial statements.
15.Assist other accounting personnel as job duties are completed, or in the case of absences.
16.Smile and engage Guests and Team Members with a positive, professional demeanor.
17.Create, maintain and facilitate a positive work environment.
18.Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING FOR POSITION (required/preferred):

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required. Master's Degree and/or CPA preferred.
  • Advanced general ledger (account reconciliations, journal entries and bank reconciliations on a computerized general ledger system) required. Specific accounting experience plus advanced general ledger (account reconciliations, journal entries and bank reconciliations on a computerized general ledger system) requirements for series positions.

  • Exhibit proficient to strong mathematical skills, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to Successfully and efficiently handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrate effective communications skills both written and verbal. Read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Exhibit proficient to advanced GL System and Excel skills.
  • Exhibit proficient to advanced Accounting Skills

PHYSICAL
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Shift work, holidays, weekends, or nights may be assigned.
Ability to maneuver in all areas of casino, ascent/descent from stairs, frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching, and/or prolonged periods of time focusing on tasks. Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. May regularly need to lift/ move, push or pull up material or boxes necessary to the job functions, with or without assistance.
Specific vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Visual acuity to discern and examine text, graphics, color and symmetry. Speech to communicate clearly, express ideas and convey information in an understandable manner. Ability to hear for listening comprehension and to understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Manual dexterity to operate office or required equipment and examine or update documents, records, data, instructions, logs, and files.
MENTAL
Social perceptiveness to assess and understand other's reactions and behavior. Critical thinking to use logic and reasoning, reach conclusions/solutions. Comprehension in assessing, analyzing, and processing alpha, numeric, and visual data and completing required tasks or documents accurately. Ability to tolerate stress and conduct tasks under critical deadlines. Ability to concentrate on task over a period of time without being distracted.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing functions of his/her job and in areas monitored by security or surveillance cameras. Work in casino operations and/or internal or external environments occasionally. Exposure to second hand smoke, moderate to high noise level, bright lights, fluctuating temperatures/weather conditions.
