Position Summary:
This position is a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience, and is responsible for primarily checking in patients within an ambulatory clinical setting. This is a clerical role that is the first line representative to patients presenting to the clinic. This position works as a team member of the clinic to help ensure the success of the clinic.
Minimum Requirements:
– Greet each patient with AIDET.
– Check in patient for appointment, ensuring all demographic information is correct and up to date.
– Ensure patient is aware of their financial responsibilities related to co-pay, coinsurance and deductible. Collecting payment when appropriate.
– Provide Financial Assistance brochure and ensure patient has information on how to contact Patient Financial Experience for Billing questions.
– Check out patient after appointment, scheduling follow-up if needed, or adding patient to a recall if immediate appointment is not needed.
– Scan insurance cards and verify eligibility for primary and secondary insurance, and ensure consent to treat is up to date.
– Ensure guarantor information is correct at time of visit.
– Sort and label all office/ patient related scanning.
– Reschedule patient appointments as needed.
– Provide patients any forms upon check to patients as necessary upon check-in based on department needs.
– Review schedule, verify insurance, and update copay collection amounts each day.
– Sorts incoming mail and delivers mail as appropriate.
– Adheres to MHS Attendance and Punctuality Policy and Procedure standards, and maintains reliable attendance
– Contributes to the success of the organization by meeting organizational competency expectations and core values (respect, integrity, stewardship, excellence, collaboration and kindness), continuously learning, and by performing other duties as needed or assigned.
Education/Licenses/Certifications:
– High school graduate or equivalent required
– One year of experience in the medical field preferred
