HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Meeting Support Technician, under the direction of the Direct Services Manager, provides first level technical support for all general government meetings with an audio, video, telephonic, or an on-line collaboration tool component. Provides in person meeting support and basic instruction on the operation of various technologies to customers as necessary. This position requires the ability to communicate to end users in a clear and understandable manner in order to explain complex or technical concepts. Resolves difficult or complicated issues quickly and takes a decisive course of action to ensure minimal disruption to meetings. Directly interacts with staff at all levels of the organization to include assembly members and at times in settings that have large audiences. Requires constant hands-on troubleshooting as well as knowledge of the latest meeting technologies and emerging trends. Possesses the ability to read and interpret room diagrams with respect to audio visual setups. Responsible for performing initial diagnosis of issues, formulate and execute a strategy to fix the issue as well as document findings. Develops checklists, troubleshooting guides, reviewing of new technologies, and works with OIT staff from other divisions to enable a smooth meeting for
MOA general government business. Works with manufacturers and vendors to develop relationships related to equipment servicing. Adapts to changing business needs, conditions and work responsibilities. Provides desktop and Service Desk support when necessary. Performs other required duties as assigned.Education & Experience
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and six (6) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems, and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Associate’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and four (4) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems, and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, and two (2) years of technical/professional MIS experience, working with clients on the resolution of computer problems, and/or the configuration of hardware, software, and network facilities, one (1) year of which must be equivalent to Information Center Consultant I with the Municipality, or equivalent elsewhere.
Additional Requirements
Must have a valid State of Alaska Driver's License at the time of hire.
Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 30 days of hire.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska Driver's License, and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states, if the Alaska Driver's License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history. Military Service Interview Preference
Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference, as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D, must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, recognizing the person as a veteran. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows the full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual’s command organization, and shows the name, signature, title, and contact information of the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
