Summary
Performs a variety of routine tasks in kitchen, tray line and dish washing areas according to standard practices and procedures. Complies with regulatory requirements.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required include
- Ability to read, write and understand basic instructions at a level normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Approximately 1 month on-the-job experience necessary in order to become familiar with Hospital and department policies and Health Food Codes as well as to attain proficiency in performance of food service duties.
- Knowledge of proper handling and storage of food in order to meet department standards for food service.

Position Summary
Front of House:
- Sets up and stocks cafeteria using FIFO, monitors quality of food & assure enough food & paper stock available. Responsible for brewing coffee, and keeping a good stock of beverages.
- Serves & replenishes hot food in cafeteria, including monitoring temperatures and quality of food. Areas include breakfast, lunch & dinner service.
- Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and other equipment.
- Interacts with customers/patients throughout the day/evening. Helps answer questions about food, ingredients & special needs.
- Knowledgably about the food they are serving, including suggestive selling
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Veggie Prep:
- Knowledgably and accurate with labels, dating, FIFO and ingredient list on all prepped items.
- Food prep for back of the house cooks / innovations and cooks stations, assists catering as needed.
- Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, meat slicer / buffalo chopper and other equipment.
- Inventory of product and stocks simply to go displays.
- Set up, prep and delivering of Child care meals / ADTC.
- Provides stock for Cancer Center and MCHC.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Room Service Tray line:
- Set up of all work stations on cold side tray line before each meal service.
- Follow ticket order, set up patient trays as ordered.
- Check for 100% accuracy, load patient trays in carts according to room location.
- Restock all beverage stations, shake machine and all work stations.
- Clean and sanitize all work stations and equipment.
Knowledge and Skills
Applies basic skills using tools and equipment appropriate for the position. Ability to effectively communicate and receive information in a manner easily understood by fellow employees.
