Music Academy of Texas @ Katy (MAT) was founded in 2021 as a sister location of Cy-Fair Music and Arts in Houston, a fine arts school with a nearly 30-year track record of excellence. We are now one of the fastest growing music schools in Houston and currently are looking for an experienced Music School Director to drive growth at our Katy Campus. Katy is one of the highest-growth areas of the region. MAT boasts a gorgeous, brand new facility with 15 lesson rooms and a small stage area. Our focus at this location will be exclusively on music lessons and some music group classes. All instructors and administrative staff are employees (W2’s).
Ideal candidates are growth-oriented individuals with at least 2 years of experience overseeing large single-location or multi-location music schools. Reporting directly to the Owners, Director is actively involved in sales and customer service, quality control, staff training, community outreach and marketing. Director is responsible for meeting enrollment goals of the MAT team.
Position is Full-Time (40 hours per week). Work is to be performed onsite at our physical location in Katy, Texas 77494.
Starting Salary: $70,000 per year

The Director's main responsibilities include:
- Drive enrollment growth, ensuring that team maximizes number of new enrollments and minimizes withdrawals
- Supervise all administrative staff and instructors
- Work with Owners to set monthly, quarterly, and annual Performance Goals and KPI’s company-wide as well as for individual staff members
- Ensure that all employees maintain accurate company data across all databases
- Process company payroll, and address various HR-related issues
- Design work schedules and conduct employee trainings
- Conduct regular performance reviews of Admin. Staff
- Prepare quarterly student retention reports
- Resolve employee and client issues
- Ensure the work facility is safe, free of security issues and in compliance with all government regulations
- Work with outside vendors to maintain necessary business supplies
- Maintain a good working relationship with Owners
The Director is in charge of all support services for our organization. They perform most record keeping, supervise the Administrative Staff and Faculty, assign work tasks to staff members and set deadlines to meet business goals.
Initial Training Period
To be fully equipped to manage the company, the incoming Director will be required to undergo training on all company systems, policies and procedures. They will also complete our customary sales and customer service training.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably with a music performance or music industry/business major
- A minimum of 2 years of proven leadership skills esp. in music school settings
- Growth-oriented, data-driven mindset
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to analyze company procedures to suggest and implement improvements
- Ability to create work schedules, among other skills
