Looking for a music education-centered, full time job to work in the local music scene? This is a great day job for musicians (or non-musicians)!

Music Shack is a staple, long-standing music store in the Longwood/Casselberry area, with over 35 years of peak-level customer service and offerings. After being reinvented as a Band and Orchestra-oriented music store in 2011, Music Shack's instrument rental and repair servicing empire has grown to service 5 counties, where we offer delivery and pickup options to over 70 schools on a weekly basis. We also offer in house woodwind and brass repairs, with 90-95% of our rental repairs completed on-site.

Our primary offering consists of our Rent-to-Own Program, as a licensed affiliate of Veritas Instrument Rental, Inc. (VIR). In 2021, we rented over 1600 student and intermediate level woodwind, brass and orchestral instruments to new band and orchestra students in Seminole, Osceola, Lake, and Volusia counties, as well as the outer areas of Orange County.

Full-Time Store Manager - Job Responsibilities

  • Report both directly to the Store Owners for any needed daily or weekly tasks, etc.
  • Assist customers with completing new in-store rental applications, as well as provide relevant information to new rental applicants, regarding Music Shack's Rent-to-Own Program.
  • Order Sheet Music, and maintain sheet music inventory as needed.
  • Both in-person, phone, and email-based customer service skills are required , however we can train you if you don't have these skills right away.
  • Process transactions via our POS (Point-of-Sale) system, as well as logging in serving requests on our online ticketing and task-management system.

Job Preferences & Requirements:

  • We prefer candidates with Band & Orchestra experience, but this is not a requirement.
  • Prior retail/customer service is preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience and knowledge with sheet music, particularly band/piano method books and Federation Piano Music is preferred, but not required.
  • Required: Ability to multi-task, as well as the ability to maintain a calm demeanor during large influxes of customers and orders.
  • Required: An easy-going, but disciplined attitude, as well as the ability to work well with other co-workers and management.
  • Ability to work overtime (at least 41-50 total hours per week) during "Rental Season" which is our store's peak customer season. This period is generally from late July-September

Compensation: $16/hr after paid training period.
