Job Posting for Program Coordinator at Muskegon YMCA
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Day Camp Director to deliver an exceptional program to campers. Program Coordinators will focus on specialty activities such as Arts and Crafts and STEM in accordance with the theme for the week. They will also adjust lesson plans based on age group. Program Coordinators will also serve as leadership in the event that the Day Camp Director is unavailable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Ability to plan, initiate and lead small and large group activities
Must possess a cooperative spirit and be committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to campers, staff, and program participants.
Must have a sincere and genuine interest in working with youth and relate well to all age levels and backgrounds.
Prior experience with youth or family programming
Certifications: CPR, First Aid & AED
YMCA lifeguard certified preferred (not required)
One year of college completed preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises a group of children.
Provide a safe environment for children
Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
Assist the Day Camp Director with creating lesson plans in accordance with the needs of each age group.
Dedication to job, camp participants, and the YMCA cause.
Adheres to program standards, including safety and cleanliness standards.
Attends staff meetings and training.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication.
Performs other duties as assigned.
