What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at MUTOH America?
The Staff Accountant is responsible for accurately preparing and maintaining the company’s balance sheets, P&L’s, and other financial reports. This individual contributor position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will work across departments to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities
- Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements.
- Maintains the company’s chart of accounts along with proper record keeping, supporting the accuracy of our Financial Statements.
- Records bi-weekly payroll entries and monthly benefits.
- Manages state sales taxes, withholdings, and unemployment.
- Performs monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities timely and prepares all associated financial reports.
- Assist in quarterly reviews, and annual audit processes.
- Prepare journal entries.
- Maintain monthly pre-paid schedules.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as Bank, AP/AR, and Inventory.
- Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
- Maintain tax accounts across multiple states and file state taxes.
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or another related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience working as a staff accountant in a finance department.
- Must be experienced working with auditors, taking the lead in the audit process.
- Proven experience in General Ledger Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Financial Analysis.
- Solid understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proven experience in Sarbanes-Oxley, review, audit, internal controls.
- Experience working in Microsoft Dynamics GP 5 years required, must have working knowledge of the GP experienced in using SmartLists, with the ability to extract information.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, must have experienced in VLOOKUP, Charts and Graphs, and experienced in manipulating data.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports.
Salary : $54,000 - $75,000
