POSITION SUMMARY
NAACP is embarking on an ambitious plan to raise significant endowment, capital, and program funds to build the Association’s immediate impact and strengthen its long-term sustainability. Working with a fast-paced development team, the new Vice President, Development Operations will be responsible for the planning and implementation of all business, finance, and data management functions that enable a best-in-class Development program. The Vice President will manage and build the Grant Services, Development Services, and Development Support teams.
The Vice President will be proficient in overall non-profit development operations best practices, including grants administration and stewardship, prospect management, database management, and fiscal management. Experience thriving in a data-driven culture, this highly collaborative individual will proactively recommend and implement solutions for automation and reporting with an emphasis on efficiency, consistency, and best practices for information management and gift administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Manage all Development Services functions including strategic planning and deployment of financial and staffing resources;
- Establish and measure annual plans, goals, and performance metrics;
- Ensure the integrity, privacy, use, and timely flow of development data with all stakeholders, efficiency of department reporting and analytics; and effective use of technology supporting the operations;
- Manage Grant Services team;
- Report to the Chief Strategy Officer and work closely with the Institutional Relations team, Finance team and various program directors/staff to ensure proper implementation and execution of grant-funded programs or services, as well as accurate data and expense tracking for reporting purposes;
- Design, implement, and maintain oversight of prospect management system, in collaboration with Vice Presidents of Individual Giving and Institutional Relations;
- With grant services team, CRM manager, and external gift processing vendor, manage stewardship and grant administration including timely acknowledgments, pledge payment reminders, pledge agreements, and preparation and submission of reports to donors and reports required by granting institutions;
- With Chief Strategy Officer, and Vice Presidents of Institutional Relations and Individual Giving, oversee the generation of annual reports and impact reporting;
- Oversee prospect research function including developing data strategies that support the ongoing identification and growth of major giving pipeline;
- In collaboration with NAACP’s IT department and/or external experts, create and execute standard and customized Salesforce reports that meet the evolving needs of the fundraising team;
- Through consistent analysis and reporting, provide guidance on donor trends to support fundraising campaigns and events and help drive strategic decision-making;
- Plan and implement programs and reports that include measurable targets for direct response, endowment, and capital campaigns;
- Track the performance of gift officers including key performance indicators and financial reporting for all officer programs;
- Oversee the annual revenue and expense budgeting process for the department;
- Facilitate, lead, and prepare a presentation of reports and analysis for the Development Committee, Campaign Cabinet and Board of Trustees / Board of Directors;
- Assess and update gift acceptance policies in collaboration with Finance on an annual basis to ensure appropriate compliance and alignment with giving trends;
- Assess and update all giving vehicles in collaboration with Finance and Legal to ensure fundraisers have accurate and timely information;
- Assess training needs and approaches for data and technology systems;
- Partner with the fundraising staff to improve and standardize procedures and processes; and
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Chief Strategy Officer or designees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational/Professional Experience
- Bachelor's degree required;
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience;
- Experience with financial constituent relationship management databases;
- Salesforce required;
- Demonstrated experience with financial analysis, preferably in a non-profit environment;
- Leadership and management experience to develop and oversee staff and to direct day-to-day activities and operations is required;
- Extensive knowledge of best practices in philanthropy;
- A metrics-driven, entrepreneurial mindset that informs strategy and work;
- Collaborative team player who can work closely with company leaders, board members, and other internal and external constituencies;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and adapt to the needs of diverse groups of individuals at all levels of the organization;
- Strong management skills with demonstrated success in team leadership and building;
- Strong communication skills;
