What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant II (Hybrid) position at NAMIC?
The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for a Staff Accountant II in our Accounting/Finance Department. This position will provide accounting services to support financial operations for NAMIC and multiple affiliated entities while working closely with VP-Finance and AVP – Accounting to produce financial statements and reports.
Essential functions of the position include:
- Prepares monthly financial statements. variance analysis, and summarizes financial status for assigned entities.
- Prepares tax forms 1099, 1096, and 990 for assigned entities at year-end.
- Maintains general ledger and reconciles accounts for assigned entities.
- Assists in coding and review of expense reports.
- Prepares monthly dues reports; maintains accurate and current dues files.
- Prepares monthly intercompany cost distribution and payroll allocation.
- Reconciles bank transactions for assigned entities.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
- Sets up ACH/EFT batches for various expenses and revenue collection as assigned.
- Assists with onboarding of new external clients.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile A/P and A/R.
- Provides backup support for financial statement preparation and month-end/year-end close.
- Provides backup support to sell NIA policies in the insurance system.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred, 3 years of relevant work experience required.
- Previous experience with multiple-company accounting preferred.
- Understanding of complete accounting cycle.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.
