Special Requirements:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office skills specifically Excel and Word. Experience with payroll as well as use of database software (MUNIS) or other enterprise resource planning software preferred. Valid Driver’s License.
The primary purpose of the position is to assist in the processing and reviewing of payroll and other service related activities within the Finance Office. This position performs work of a specialized and confidential nature. In addition to payroll duties this position will track and maintain the physical capital assets and contracts of the County through the County’s designated software.

- Works directly with financial software processing payroll, capital asset transactions and other related transactions.
- Handles payroll related adjustments and time entry review for employee classifications
- Transmits direct deposit and positive pay files
- Assists in processing payroll tax and retirement information.
- Assists in processing of W2 and W4 forms
- Processes and maintains records and compliance for child support, bankruptcy orders, garnishments and tax levies
- Works with Human Resources, various departmental personnel and auditors regarding payroll items
- Assists with maintenance of timesheets, payroll vendor records and various documents.
- Processes, reconciles, and maintains records for County capital assets and various contracts.
- Provides requested reports and respond to questions concerning payroll and fixed assets.
- Provides outstanding customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of payroll operations, employee benefits and leave administration
- General knowledge of payroll related laws, rules, regulations, policies and practices to follow in the payroll and accounting functions.
- Ability to maintain high quality performance in a busy environment

Experience in payroll operations preferred. Prefer a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in accounting or business related field of study. Basic knowledge of North Carolina and Federal payroll tax and policies. Equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education will be considered.
