Location: Natick High School
Reports To: Principal or designee
Work days/FTE: 181 days/1.0 FTE
7.5 paid hours/day
6:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. with ½ hour unpaid

JOB GOAL:
The NHS Building Substitute and Site Liaison manages and provides substitute coverage for all daily absences at Natick High School. The Building Sub ensures that every class is covered by creating, managing, and communicating a daily staffing schedule to students and staff, as well as by supervising students when sub coverage is not available.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: BA/BS degree preferred
Specialized Knowledge:
- Adolescent development
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion,and social justice as they relate to students.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with adolescents in a structured environment
- Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.), Frontline Absence Management, and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate
Skills:
- Candidates should have a passion for working with students and colleagues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)

The Building-Based Substitute and NHS Site Liaison is responsible for implementing a clear system for covering teacher absences with a combination of building substitutes, teacher duties, and daily substitute teachers. Additionally, the Building-Based Substitute and NHS Site Liaison is responsible for supervising students when there is no substitute coverage available.
Duties include:
Liaison Work:
- Review teacher absences in Frontline Absence Management (Aesop) daily
- Monitor, analyze, and implement the teacher coverage assignments each day prior to the first period of each day
- Anticipate coverage needs and offer potential solutions
- Coordinate substitute staffing for all classes requiring coverage
- Coordinate placement of outside substitutes to classrooms when needed via communication
- directly with District Sub Coordinator)
- Independently make decisions regarding coverage assignments
- Respond to last-minute coverage needs effectively and professionally
- Effectively communicate coverage assignments each day to all students and staff before the first period of each day.
- Communication with administration, department heads, custodial staff, when needed
Student Supervision
Monitor and supervise students who are assigned to the cafeteria and/or Lecture Hall when classroom coverage has been exhausted.- Maintain accurate records for students including attendance, accidents, and/or incidents
- Generate accurate discipline referrals when needed
- Distribute and collect work assignments for absent teachers as requested
- Hold students accountable for their behavior throughout the building
- Alert administrators to all student concerns that emerge during the school day
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Ensure the safety of students at all times
