National Aerospace Solutions (NAS), LLC is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment activities at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, in Tullahoma, Tennessee. NAS is committed to partnering with the Air Force and the workforce at AEDC to drive the change necessary to ensure the long-term viability of the Complex while ensuring mission success: no impact to customers, no loss in data quality, and no reduction in productive test time – ultimately securing AEDC's long-term future and world-class superiority in aerospace and flight testing.

NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Communications and Publications Manager to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.

Job Summary
This is a Manager position working independently managing NAS Communications, Community Involvement and Publications. 

Job Duties:
  • Accomplish NAS Communications, Community Involvement and Publications objectives by planning and evaluating activities and managing staff
  • Maintain staffing levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Develop personal growth opportunities for employees
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
  • Develop, coordinate, and enforce policies, procedures and productivity standards
  • Ensure consistency with NAS processes, policies and procedures
  • Define objectives, identify and evaluate trends and options, choose a course of action, and evaluate outcomes
  • Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, participating in annual budget planning, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and identifying corrective actions
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service issues, and recommending process improvements
  • Develop ideas for Communications, Community Involvement and Publications
  • Ensure company industrial and office safety practices are adhered to
  • Anticipate changing priorities and problems
  • Develop and manage communications plans to support internal e.g., NAS Hotline and “Ask the General Manager” drop boxes and external communications needs
  • Ensure innovative and creative designs for NAS Newsletter, intranet, external website, and social media layout are developed and maintained
  • Ensure relevant content for NAS Newsletter, intranet, external website, and social media is maintained
  • Track usage data and look for trends on the NAS internal website and social media
  • Write press releases and distribute to media
  • Provide photography at NAS events (recognitions, company gatherings and major milestones)
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (i.e., public relations, journalism or English) with 9 to 11 years of progressive and relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and progressive and relevant experience. Relevant experience must include the following:
    • Communications, media relations, with a track record in managing issues
    • Managing communications and community involvement programs
    • Managing budgets and leading and motivating a team
  • Current US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advance knowledge of and successfully demonstrated skills related to:
    • Journalistic writing techniques and skill in editing articles and stories, preferably for a weekly newspaper or similar production
    • Current political, civic, business and economic trends
    • Photo and video production, event management and tours in a government setting, archive systems, intranet content production, graphic design and best practices
  • Experience with performance management
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with coaching and supervision
  • Experience with Quality management
  • Experience with developing budgets
  • Experience writing articles, press releases, and briefings
  • Experience with fostering teamwork
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems where guidelines are not well defined
  • Results driven
  • Knowledge and understanding of grammatical rules, spelling, composition, and style
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of production methods and techniques
  • Effective interpersonal skills in communication with customers, co-workers, and employees
Must be flexible and willing to take on a variety of assignments
