Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a salary-based job?
No, it is not. This position is commission-based and uncapped, allowing you to earn from the business you bring in.
Are there other Business Developers in my location?
Possibly. It depends on your location and target market. We have a broad network of developers, but market and area specifics will determine the presence of other developers.
What type of contract is signed when bringing in business?
We sign a 1099 contract with our business developers. Addendums are created as new clients are brought in to accommodate specific terms and conditions.
Can I bring in people to develop business with me?
Absolutely–we support any legal strategy that helps bring in business. In fact, this approach is encouraged as we've seen great results from those who have expanded their teams.
Where does the commission for those people I bring come from?
It depends on the account, but typically, your team’s compensation comes from your profit share. We will step in if someone on your team is not being fairly compensated in relation to their contributions.
How long does it take to start closing business?
The fastest we've seen is three days. We are ready to close deals from day one and recommend approaching prospects who are prepared to move quickly.
What's the average order and lifetime value of a client?
This varies widely depending on several factors. You could achieve US $1.2M in one deal or across multiple deals. For contracting, we do not take jobs smaller than US $10K including labor, paint, and materials. For supply, we do not serve businesses purchasing less than US $120K per annum in paint, coatings, and specialty materials.
How are the products delivered to the client?
Clients can pick up products from one of 5,000 stores across the U.S. Alternatively, delivery and restocking on site is available, especially for large orders.
How long before the products are delivered?
Most paints and coatings can be delivered within 1 to 7 days, depending on order size and product availability. Specialty materials' delivery times vary on a case-by-case basis as some products are made to order.
How does the contracting side of things work?
Once you notify us of an interested prospect, a local estimator and paint specialist will visit the site. After this visit, we provide a detailed quote and timeline. We will then follow up with the prospect until the contract is won or lost.
When are profit share commissions paid?
Commissions can be paid monthly, quarterly, or annually, depending on the contract characteristics and your preference. For one-time sales, commissions are paid at closing.
What type of clients do you recommend targeting first?
We recommend targeting clients who require a medium to large amount of the same products, colors, and surfaces on a recurring basis. This consistency can help establish a steady and reliable revenue stream.
