What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tobacco Prevention Coordinator position at Native American Rehabilitation Association (NARA)?
Position Summary:
We at the Native American Rehabilitation Association Northwest invite you to apply for the opening of our position, Tobacco Prevention Coordinator. This position will support the Tobacco Prevention Manager in overseeing long and short-term strategic plans, goals, objectives and activities of the program. The Tobacco Prevention Coordinator will assist with the program’s budget, contracts, grant applications, proposals and Tribal partnerships. In addition, this position will work with Native American youth to provide culturally relevant prevention activities to decrease tobacco/nicotine use while providing a positive strength-based approach.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Update and manage NARA NW’s tobacco/nicotine policy
- Facilitate tobacco cessation groups
- Create social media messaging centered around commercial tobacco cessation and the differences between commercial and traditional tobacco use
- Maintain and develop NARA NW’s gardens and healing spaces
- Assist with grant reports
- Become a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS)
- Participate in training and become certified as a trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) and Question Persuade Refer (QPR)
- Attend Tribal prevention camps
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Previous experience working with tobacco/nicotine prevention, traditional foods and medicines
- Experience in tobacco prevention or cessation preferred
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when required
- Excellent Oral and written communication skills
- Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid Drivers’ License
