What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water/Wastewater Meter Technician position at Navajo Tribal Utility Authority?
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
2 years of experience in water/wastewater construction/operations.
Experience in communication skills, and customer service.
Within 2 years, obtain Water Distribution Level 1 Certification and Wastewater Collection Level 1 Certification.
Valid Driver's License required (subject to motor record review).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Works with the staff in performing required facility water meter maintenance on NTUA's water/wastewater systems and mainlines for the treatment plants.
Utilizing the technical device unit to gather wastewater flow data at various locations on wastewater systems.
Develops and schedules the annual wastewater flotote installation to gather flow data for wastewater treatment facilities, and for District wastewater commercial billing.
Involved in providing flow data reports to engineers on influent/effluent data results on capacity of water/wastewater systems.
Coordinates with appropriate NTUA staff the work activities relating to the large customer on wastewater flows on influent or effluent of lagoons.
Ensures the assigned equipment is maintained and in operation for the scheduled projects, and responsible for orientating and training of operators flow meters in wastewater projects.
Works with production water meters, inputs water meter information into the computer, installs, removes and/or changes out meters.
Prepares all reports pertaining to data collection on both water meter and influent/effluent flow calculations in accordance with established procedures.
Provide training to NTUA employees and staff on the work requirements for the water/wastewater test equipment, determine accuracy, and make necessary adjustments.
Ensures all applicable safety requirements are met to maintain safe working conditions and safe operation of test equipment.
Assists districts in dealing with customer's water meter complaints through test bench flow test reporting.
Participates in developing department budget by providing project schedules, estimates for each project, equipment maintenance and other budget requirements to support the budget.
Coordinate with Navajo Nation entities; NECA, NHA, BIA, HIS, and contractors on projects and work schedule relating to water/wastewater systems.
Involved and participates in development of policies and procedures for domestic water and wastewater systems compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
