What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pension Manager position at Navistar?
Navistar, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Retirement to join our People and Culture Team at our World Headquarters location in Lisle, IL.
This person will be responsible for the compliance of Navistar’s retirement income programs including defined benefit pension plans, defined contribution plans and non-qualified deferred compensation plans, both defined benefit and defined contribution. Assists the Associate Director, Pensions, in development of the overall strategy, direction and execution of retirement income plans. Assists in evaluating financial, legal and tax implications for M&A’s, location closures, etc. Supports labor union negotiations.
The Manager, Retirement will have the knowlege and responsibility of the following:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements under ERISA, including the preparation of documents pertaining to:
- Review of IRS Form 5500s, including Financial Statements and Schedule SBs
- Prepare PBGC Form 10s for any Reportable Events
- Prepare annual PBGC Form 4010 Filing
- Review annual PBGC Premium Filing
- Perform corrections under EPCRS
Responsibilities
- Maintain plan documents for any regulatory updates and plan design changes. Draft plan amendments, summary of material modifications and summary plan descriptions. Prepare memo to leadership for approval.
- Review Actuarial Valuation Report for Employer Contributions prepared by actuaries. Prepare memo to Treasury to pay contributions to the pension trusts.
- Prepare and mail the Annual Funding Notices for the pension plans.
- Review and respond to appeals. Participate in UAW/Navistar Joint Pension Board.
- Support internal and external audits of retirement plans.
- Supports Labor Negotiations by analyzing the population, making recommendations for changes, preparing costs, and fulfilling union’s data request.
- Support the Pension Administration Team in answering questions and creating and/or maintaining procedures.
- Develop and implement a communication program for our defined contribution plans.
- Fill out surveys and review results. Advise management of emerging trends and best practices.
- Develop the financial wellness aspect of Well-being
- Contribute to overall strategy of retirement income plans, monitor the cost effectiveness of the existing plans, and recommend required revisions to meet strategic benefit objectives
- Assist in evaluating M&As, Sales, plant shutdowns, etc. to determine any issues impacting our retirement programs
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes impacting retirement benefits in US and globally and advise management of emerging trends and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 8 years of pension design and benefit administration experience
- At least 1 year of lead experience
OR
- Master’s degree
- At least 6 years of pension design and benefit administration experience
- At least 1 year of lead experience
OR
- At least 10 years of pension design and benefit administration experience
- At least 1 year of lead experience
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
