Correctional Programs Director I - NC Department of Public Safety - Wake County
This position reports to the Associate Warden of Programs and directs programs for the rehabilitation of offenders in a multi-level custody female correctional facility. Job responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Administering programs for offenders at large multi-custody correctional facility having a broader scope and complexity than usually found at field units.
- Directing a major program. The primary programs areas are: offender classification; correctional programs, which could include any of the following (work release, incentive wage, study release, home leave, adult basic education, volunteer programs, religions programs, and recreation); and supportive counseling.
- Supervising subordinate personnel who are responsible for the implementation, development and maintenance of the programs on a daily basis.
- Coordinating programs with custody staff and other correctional facility staff.
- Serving in a custody role as needed, especially during emergency situations, such as disturbances and escapes.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is GN09 (Salary Range: $36,677 - $62,092). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women:
North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders.
The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a Human Services or Criminal Justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in correctional programs management or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
