The Medical Assistant Clinical Team Lead is responsible for providing basic nursing care to clinic patients following established standards and practices. This position provides a vital link in the chain of Quality of Care; supporting the clinic, communicating and scheduling appointments and physician orders and is responsible for providing established standards and practices under physician supervision and orders. The Medical Assistant - Clinical Team lead supports the clinic and Practice Manager and ensures proper training and guidance to all staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:-
- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow
- Escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patients conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers.
- Assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
- Collecting patient history including current medications, allergies, symptoms, etc.
- Provide patient care as directed by provider; this may include screenings, treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Assisting providers with various procedures as needed.
- Documenting patient charts and relaying information & instructions to patient/family. Document all interventions, phone calls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data, etc. in medical record.
- Answering patient phone calls & messages and acting as a communication liaison between the patient and provider.
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include filing or sending medical records to a patient or referral provider; appointment scheduling.
- Collection and handling of lab specimens following established standards and practices adhere to infection control safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments and stock supplies.
- Utilizes electronic referrals process to complete requested physician referrals to NCHMD specialists and ancillary services.
Additional Lead Duties
- Assist management in daily work schedules and make changes to accommodate workload.
- Lead the clinical staff and review finished work for accuracy and completeness.
- Participates with the peer interview team during the hiring process of new clinical team members.
- Provides new team member training and orientation for particular office protocols.
- Working knowledge of current changes in specific clinical areas such as immunizations, drug recalls, sample closets, etc.
- To be a key factor in the growth and development of clinical employees.
- Handle patient’s problems and concerns.
- Maintain inventory pursuant to established procedures and par levels.
- Serves as a point of first contact for Physicians, Providers, and nurses.
- Makes recommendations to Practice Manager regarding process improvements.
- Provides input to Practice Manager regarding clinical staff performance, needs, and hiring.
- Serves as a liaison and manages scheduling of Pharmaceutical Representatives.
- Must be able to communicate with staff, supervisors, peers, and associates, and maintain a positive working environment.
- Functions as a liaison between our Physician offices, referral physicians, ancillary services and the patients.

Education, Experience, Qualifications:-
- Minimum of High School or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical office setting as a Medical Assistant required.
- Completion of Medical Assistant training program with documented clinical practicum hours OR Medical Assistant certification required.
- Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs necessary.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 codes.
- Knowledge of basic and specialty specific medical terminology.
- Must be capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a professional demeanor and control.
