We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, by providing Vocational and Community Living Services. We have been serving Individuals with Developmental Disabilities in San Luis Obispo County since 1957, when we first introduced our Vocational Training Program. In 2007, we partnered with NCI Affiliates, and while both agencies have their own identities, both have a single focus - promoting independence and inclusion for adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities through vocational training, education and adaptive living skills programs, advocacy, and community living services.Â
HIRING BONUS $250.00
The HR Coordinator is responsible for assisting the HR Director with all staffing and safety measures, including, but not limited to, recruitment strategies, marketing, hiring and onboarding, assisting with safety and operations, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties Include:
- Guarantee services compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Ensure compliance with company programs, practices, and policies specific to program and client management.
- Execute proper allocation of agency resources (product, space, time, people, etc.).
- Assist with placing job ads and maintenance of job posters.
- Process and review employment applications to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants.
- Select applicants meeting specified job requirements and refer them to hiring Supervisors.
- Schedule interviews with Supervisors and job applicants to obtain and verify information used to screen and evaluate them.Â
- Inform job applicants of their acceptance or rejection of employment.
- Request information from previous employers, and other references to determine applicants’ employment acceptability.
- Process, verify, and maintain personnel related documentation.
- Explain company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants.
- Assist in the preparation of orientation and handbooks for new employees. Conduct orientations as needed.
- Administer, implement and assist employees with benefit enrollment or deletions.
- Track benefit enrollment for financial department.
- Track auto insurance.
- Create and print reports from Millennium as needed.
- File personnel records to ensure proper retention and maintenance for both NCI Affiliates and Achievement House.
- Prepare and track worker’s compensation claims.
- Front desk reception and maintain incoming lines. Update telephone voicemail systems.
- Process internal and external mail distribution. Â Maintain and update all staff mailboxes.
- Obtain, stamp and distribute mail and packages.
- Aid in the maintenance of all corporate and board files.

SCHEDULE: Full-time (35 to 40 hours per week) needs to be flexible, may need to work some evenings and weekends as required Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Education / Experience:Â
A high school education or equivalent is required. Previous experience working with developmentally disabled adults preferred.
Qualifying Specifications:Â
Must have own vehicle, maintain a current California driver’s license and provide on-going proof of current state required auto insurance. Must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency’s insurance carrier. Must clear fingerprints through the California Department of Justice and FBI. The ability to successfully complete First Aid / CPR training is mandatory.
Skills and Abilities Preferred:Â Â
Necessary for this position are compassion, patience, good communication, resourcefulness, and the ability to make sound decisions. Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize workload. Strong English oral and written communication skills are required. Reading, writing, basic math skills, attention to detail for extended periods of time, repetition, problem solving, and the ability to motivate others.
Physical Requirements:Â
Essential functions of this position require that employees regularly sit, stand, bend, twist and walk. Employees may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 30 lbs. Â
