We are looking for a Senior Technical Sound Designer to create and maintain our sound/audio systems, improve our pipelines and workflows, and implement music, sound, and voice content for our audio team, in Unreal Engine and Audiokinetic Wwise. This position will have the opportunity to help innovate compelling audio experiences using modern technology for a global audience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Create and maintain efficient AAA audio pipelines across all phases of development
- Work with Unreal Engine and Audiokinetic Wwise, including Blueprints
- Prototype and ship innovative audio systems using modern techniques
- Implement spatialization and acoustics solutions
- Record, edit, design, and implement audio assets
- Scope and plan audio needs for upcoming releases and features
- Collaborate across disciplines to provide exceptional audio support
- Work with audio programmers and upstream designers to develop best practices and optimized workflows
- Test, report, and track audio related bugs and tasks to ensure expected levels of quality
- Provide support for multiple projects and teams simultaneously and self-manage accordingly
- Collaborate directly with artists, designers, and engineers to construct engaging sounds and the systems that drive them
- Work in partnership with cross-divisional teams to establish and fulfill the audio vision
- Identify technical and artistic approaches in developing new tools and workflows
- Spearhead audio concepting and palette generation exercises like source jams and field recording sessions
- Assist in mentoring sound design team
- Develop robust documentation and onboarding for Audio Tools & Workflows
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- 5 years of professional audio experience working in-house at one or more game studios
- Shipped at least one AAA quality game as an audio designer or technical audio designer
- Keen sense of game audio aesthetics
- Experience with a DAW, two-track editor, and batch processing for the creation and processing of assets for use in-game
- Experience implementing audio assets into a game via commercial or proprietary game engine editor
- Ability to provide support for multiple projects and teams simultaneously
- Experience building audio tools
- Experience with dialogue systems
- Experience with modern spatialization and acoustics solutions
- Experience creating, updating, and optimizing audio systems
- Finesse with modern audio production tools such as Reaper
- Advanced implementation methods and mix techniques via Audiokinetic Wwise
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Linear postproduction and field recording experience
- Experience overseeing or mentoring junior designers
- FPS / Multi-player experience
- Experience working in Unreal Engine and Blueprints
- Interested in learning new technology, like Unreal Engine’s MetaSounds
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience working with physics a plus
- Programming or scripting experience
- Experience with UE5 Audio Meta
We are open to remote work in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, MA, MD, NC, NV, NY OR, TX, UT and WA or onsite/hybrid/flex at our office in Bellevue, WA.
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $125,000 per year, plus annual bonus potential. Please note that the salary shown is a general guideline only. We take into consideration the geography in which you live and your experience and qualifications when determining final salary. This role is also eligible for medical, dental, vision and life insurance, short and long term disability, 401(k), flexible and dependent care spending accounts, PTO, paid holidays and parental leave.
