The Assistant Director (AD) reports directly to the Chief Audit Officer (CAO). The AD is responsible for the majority of the IAD's day-to-day oversight of audit and consulting engagements to ensure high-quality results, conformance to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards), and timely completion. This includes workpaper review for all engagements, direct line supervision of the 3-person operational audit team and 1 IT auditor, and providing daily assistance and guidance to the investigative auditor as needed.This position also serves as advisor on various university level committees focusing on risk identification and mitigation as well as compliance and operational efficiency and effectiveness. This position collaborates with many compliance and operational units across the university and must possess mature negotiation and problem resolution skills. The AD leads the tracking and monitoring of IADs engagements and related metrics; managing large amounts of regularly changing information. The AD also assists the CAO in strategic planning, the continuous risk assessment and audit planning process, and enhancing and creating awareness of the value-added services the IAD provides to the university. In the CAO's absence, the AD leads the IAD.
