Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Inventory Control Specialist to manage inventory operations of our thriving sewing machine and fabric shop. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for processes and procedures, attention to details, along with a proven track record of efficiently managing inventory. As an integral member of our team, this candidate will ensure that our shop maintains accurate stock levels, enabling us to provide amazing experiences to our valued staff and guests.

Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day inventory operations, including building, receiving, and organizing, and stock levels of sewing machines, fabrics, quilting notions, and other related products.
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent out of stock and overstock situations, ensuring that products are readily available for guests' needs.
  • Collaborate with our team to coordinate timely replenishment orders and manage order lead times effectively.

Receiving and Inspection:

  • Receive shipments of fabrics, sewing machines, and quilting supplies, ensuring accuracy and quality of items received.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify any defects, damages, or discrepancies, and communicate findings to the appropriate parties.
  • Update inventory records accurately to reflect received products, quantities, pricing, and descriptive data.

Organization and Stockroom:

  • Maintain a tidy and organized stockroom, optimizing storage space and accessibility.
  • Review backstock on a weekly basis for restocking.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Utilize inventory management software to track and document stock movements, and adjustments.
  • Generate regular inventory reports, analyzing trends and identifying opportunities for inventory optimization and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with management to provide insights on inventory turnover, slow-moving items, and potential stock-related challenges.

Customer Service Collaboration:

  • Occasionally assist customers during events or busy moments in the shop.
  • Collaborate with the customer service team to address any inventory-related issues raised by customers.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance inventory management processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Propose and implement initiatives to reduce excess inventory, minimize shrinkage, and improve inventory accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in textiles, business, or inventory management is a plus.
  • Previous experience in inventory coordination, preferably within the fabric, sewing machine, or quilting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrics, sewing machines, quilting notions, and related products.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A passion for quilting, sewing, and textiles.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
