Nature of Work
Assist with supervision of residence halls and administration of residence life activities. Facilitate community development that enhances student success and growth. Responsible for overseeing residence hall occupancy, managing auxiliary services, supervising hall facilities and furnishings. May coordinate conference and guest housing, maintain financial records and prepare reports. Act as a primary point of contact for residential students. May specialize in one of the following areas: (1) Staff Recruitment and Selection, (2) Staff Training and Development, (3) Staff Programming, (4) Student Leadership Development or (5) Operations. May receive room and board at the residence hall as part of the employment package.
Examples of Work Performed
Essential Duties:
1. Ensure safety and security throughout assigned residence halls
Maintain regular on-call coverage while retaining proximity to campus as scheduled by the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life
Uphold Board, CSC, and Residence Life policies and procedures
Address issues related to safety and security
Assist in the student conduct process including reports and necessary forms
Manage the front desk for assigned facilities
Assist with student behavioral challenges and concerns
Oversee building rounds and walk-throughs
Collaborate with CSC Security and emergency responders
2. Supervision
Supervise assigned resident advisors, including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation.
Ensure high-quality customer service among supervisees
Supervise staff and students at various campus functions and events
3. Student engagement
Implement programs and activities for students
Encourage student involvement throughout campus
Oversee Intentional Interaction Report process for assigned facilities
Ensure the general well-being of campus students
4. Facility Management
Routine occupancy tracking and reporting
Oversee and assist with appropriate check-in and check-out procedures
Furniture and equipment inventory and assessment
Report maintenance and/or custodial needs
Ensure the general upkeep of residential facilities
5. Other duties as assigned
Secondary Duties:
1. Conduct room checks as needed
2. Assist with summer camps and conferences
3. Collect, maintain, and report records of facility activities, programs, initiatives, and administrative procedures as designated by the supervisor
5. Coordinator for Housing and Residence Life storage spaces
6. Attend floor and building meetings as needed
7. Assist other Residence Life staff with programs and events as needed
8. Incorporate leadership development opportunities among supervisees
9. Adhere to the Residence Life Association programming model as outlined by the Associate Director of Residence Life
10. Document and report formal and informal student feedback and/or needs
11. Serve on committees as determined by the supervisor
