Job Summary:
Establishing and maintaining sales, cost and profit goals in the frozen food department through the correct ordering, handling, and merchandising of the frozen food products and performing and/or seeing that all work in the department is done in accordance with sound basic management principles and in the most efficient manner.
Major duties:
Orders all frozen food products.
Receives and checks all frozen food deliveries upon arrival to see that all merchandise is in good condition and that the correct quantity and weight are received.
Sees that all frozen food products are properly prepared, handled, stocked, and merchandised or stored and that all frozen food products in the backroom storage are checked daily.
Plans special promotions and displays with the Store Director.
Sees that all frozen food merchandise is rotated according to code dating policies.
Is responsible for signage, gross profit, and inventory control.
Determines Manager’s Specials consistent with quality and quantity sells items at minimum loss. Keeps the Store Director informed of all markdowns and losses.
Keeps the frozen food department fixtures, equipment, and area free from accident hazards at all times.
Handles all store property and equipment in such a manner as to secure maximum use.
Bookkeeping, including all paper work and record keeping.
Scheduling and labor control standards.
Properly trains personnel assigned to the frozen food department.
Maintains a high level of product knowledge and merchandising ability to accomplish frozen food department goals.
Maintain proper temperature in cases.
Maintains courteous and friendly customer relations.
Inventory control; quarterly physical inventory
Minor duties:
Evaluates employees assigned to the frozen food department.
Operate pallet jacks and hydraulic baler.
Perform sweeping and cleaning functions.
Provide carryout service to customers.
Responsible for case cleaning.
Maintain sanitation standards.
Operate telephones and intercoms and practice proper telephone etiquette.
Follows all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned
Relationships: Reports to Store Director. Supervises clerks.
Qualifications:
Read and write.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Provide verbal and physical assistance to customers.
Lift, move, and stack up to 50 pounds.
Pull or push wheeled vehicles weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
Reach and stock product up to 6 ft. high.
Work in temperatures of 0 to -10 degrees for up to 20 minutes repeatedly during a shift.
Must possess basic computer skills
