OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Resource & Development Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with reports, assisting CEO/Executive Director with all elements of fund raising and oversee community-based development efforts in collaboration with Community Engagement for the organization.
SUPERVISOR:
The Resource & Development Manager reports directly to the CEO/Executive Director.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
- Foundation, corporate and government grant writing and reporting.
- Research potential new funding opportunities.
- Work with CEO/Executive Director and Controller in developing Resource Plan.
- Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors.
- Maintain a minimum level of expertise in resource development areas, including governmental laws and regulations applicable to non-profit fundraising.
- Identify and assist with strategic acquisition of problem properties.
- Assist with researching and prioritizing neighborhood expansion plans.
- Other duties as assigned by CEO/Executive Director.
COMPLIANCE
Ensure reporting for donors, NeighborWorks America®, & government entities are completed timely and accurately.
EVENT/PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Perform all duties required to organize and promote NWSL special events.
- Organize, promote, implement, and evaluate special events, including but not limited to, NWSL annual celebration, Paint Your Heart Out, and NeighborWorks Week.
- Organize neighborhood activities that promote a sense of community, ownership, and leadership among participants.
- Identify potential events and activities that will bring positive recognition to NWSL.
- Recommend any necessary program policy and procedure changes to the
CEO/Executive Director.
ADMINISTRATION
- Assist in preparation and administration of relevant portions of NWSL annual budget, which encompasses purchases, revenues, donations, and sponsorships; assist with evaluation and adjustment of annual budget as needed.
- Maintain financial records and computer database pertaining to marketing, public relations, community outreach, and special events.
- Establish and maintain adequate financial systems, providing regular reports on the status of marketing, public relations, community outreach, and project/event finances.
- Prepare correspondence for CEO/Executive Director.
- Meet all reporting and compliance requirements (IRS, funders, special grants, annual audit, etc.).
ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT
- Recognize and follow trends in the community to advise NWSL on emerging issues; identify potential responses and assistance.
- Work with CEO/Executive Director to manage all short- and long- term projects approved by the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate needs assessment with program managers to provide service.
- Connect with co-workers to maintain current and accurate information regarding NWSL programs, services, and events.
MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Develop in collaboration with senior staff to create and implement marketing and public relations strategies to promote NWSL programs, services, and events.
- Responsible for media coverage and public relations including press releases, media events, promotions, advertising, public services announcements, and related venues.
- Plan and develop publications that are effective in promoting or increasing the interest and awareness of NWSL to the community, while remaining within budget.
- Attend community meetings and gatherings to promote NWSL, including but not limited to, community council meetings, school and PTA meetings, neighborhood fairs and events, business functions, etc.
- Interact with community groups, schools, businesses, government agencies, and others to promote NWSL
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or commensurate employment experience.
- Two years experience in communications, public relations, marketing, and/or special event organizing at the community based level. Non-profit experience desirable.
- Proven track record in the establishment and maintenance of positive and effective working relationships with all levels of professional peers, employees, community members, and volunteers.
- Knowledge of and experience in effectively working with individuals from a variety of age groups, ethnic backgrounds, and income levels.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with exceptional grammar proficiency.
- Ability to speak with diverse groups and represent NWSL at various functions.
- Experience with budgeting and record keeping.
- Proficiency with operating digital camera and presentation equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and direct the work of volunteers.
- Ability to coordinate, trains, and organize efforts with a board of directors, community members, and volunteers at the grassroots level.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
- Strong computer skills; advanced skills with Microsoft and Adobe products.
- Bilingual skills highly desirable.
- Must be available to work on various evenings or weekends.
HOURS & COMPENSATION:
- Full- time position, Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Benefits included.
- Salary $57,000 - $65,000
