Senior Staff Accountant

We are seeking an accountant with minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting with the following experience, knowledge and/or skills:

Understanding of tax and experience with tax preparation, including individual, corporate, and partnership returns.

Ability to analyze financial statements and preparation of journal entries as needed to close the books for purposes of preparing tax returns.

Understanding and experience with accounting assignments, i.e., performing a writeup and generating a trial balance.

Experience with financial statement preparation (including compilation and review engagements).

Audit experience a plus.

Communication skills to correspond with clients and taxing authorities directly.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

First-year goals:

Obtain an understanding of the firm's policies, procedures, and software applications.

Become familiar with pertinent IRC sections and regulations.

Begin developing adequate tax and accounting research techniques via the various research sources available.

Become proficient in preparing more complex corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, and other tax returns prepared by the firm. This would include multistate returns. Assume responsibility for the completion of tax returns under the supervision of more experienced staff.

Have the ability to run all aspects of a job under the supervision of more experienced staff. These jobs should receive minimal points that are associated only with complex issues and not careless errors.

Completion of assignments that receive points that are associated only with complex issues and not careless errors.

Demonstrate assertiveness and eagerness to take on new and challenging assignments.

Comprehending, approach and task completion are critical attributes that must be developed.

Begin development on becoming an advisor to our clients by learning how to present advice to their Manager and Partners.

Learn how to do tax planning for their clients, including projections and recommendation letters.
