Job Profile
The Traffic Business Development Representative is responsible for the full customer life-cycle. This includes but is not limited to: sales generation, customer support, and account management. Leads, inquiries, and subsequent revenue will be attained by phone, on the website, and through in-person interactions.
Responsibilities
· Manage KPI including: revenue, profit margin, and mix of market and products/services
· Create and execute a sales plan for all potential and present customers.
o Create and execute Key Account Plans for priority customers.
o Maintain customer prioritization engagement expectations.
o Develop Call Rotation Plan.
o Provide territory data for company forecast procedures.
o Own margin improvement and annual territory growth.
· Identify appropriate prospects, set appointments, make effective qualifying sales calls, and manage sales cycle.
· Assist in growth of a new Traffic products distribution center.
· Own, qualify, and develop opportunities developed independently and those passed from the company website, marketing, and national accounts. Provide direct support to new customers within your market.
· Execute customer support, orders, and quotations (price & availability) via phone, webchat, email, and person-to-person interaction. Service the customer’s needs and proactively add-on by referencing buying history, explaining features or marketing new products, and establishing stocking programs/contracts. Forecast short- and long-term order opportunities.
· Grow relationships through sales and service by expanding the contact base within the account, presenting additional product and vendor lines, and creating a partnership between the company and the account. As needed, assist with customer retention efforts.
· Employ “solution selling” including but not limited to:
o Identifying customer needs
o Recommending relevant product and/or service solutions
o Managing the sales process from lead through payment
· Utilize available tools consistently, accurately, and promptly [including company ERP systems and other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to document all customer activity. Similarly, utilize other in-house tools such as the company website, freight tracking tools, customer and vendor portals to efficiently execute routine job tasks.
· Deliver exceptional customer service and support throughout the entire order cycle, serving as the primary point of contact and company representative for customers at all levels.
o Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Inventory, Purchasing, Accounting, Finance, Sales Operations, Warehouse, Product Management to ensure seamless communication and coordination of activities related to customer orders and account management.
o Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to resolve invoicing and credit approval issues, ensuring that all customer transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
o Provide strategic guidance and support to other Traffic Representatives, collaborating to ensure adequate coverage for all customers and optimizing team performance.
· Support special programs when required including servicing walk-in customers, becoming familiar with customers’ proprietary purchasing systems, and assisting with RFPs and Special Supply Chain requirements from national accounts.
· Contact and strategize proactively with our Vendor Reps to enhance your working relationship with them and to grow the customer base with their products.
· Commit to consistently staying abreast of product changes or applications, and a dedication to constantly improve selling skills. Similarly, identify and communicate ideas for continuous improvement of processes.
· Travel to regional trade shows and regular local customer visits to ensure last look.
· Represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, and a customer-centric approach at all times.
Requirements/Key Experiences
· 3 years experience within DOT industry preferred; willingness to learn DOT specifications and trends required
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect, and interact with potential customers in different modalities.
· Ability to work well in a team environment with a strong customer service orientation.
· Ability to interface with Suppliers, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, and Engineering concerning pricing, availability, and sourcing issues.
· Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including an ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Related experience with a strong blend of proactive contact and handling inbound activity.
· Tenacity and trouble shooting ability to overcome obstacles to meet company goals.
· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and CRM experience preferred.
Other Qualifications
· Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone.
· Able to travel at least 25% of the time including overnight travel.
· Must be able to read, write, and speak English; Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
