Job Description Nevada State University (NSU) actively maintains an open pool of qualified individuals to be selected on an as-needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. NSU invites applications for an open pool of adjunct faculty for in-person courses in Physics including lecture and lab components. Applications will be considered on an as needed basis determined by course availability. Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour for lecture and $2,000 per credit hour for lab. Courses range from 1-4 credits. Core Responsibilities: Design course materials (syllabus, lectures, assignments, exams, etc.). Utilize training sessions/materials to master the use of Canvas, NSU’s learning management system. Maintain regular communication with students, adjunct coordinator, and department chair. Teaching, mentoring, and advising students. There is potential for collaboration with other faculty. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Environmental Science or a related field. Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate students. Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.
