Responsibilities:
The Apprentice is responsible, by observation and practice, for understanding and learning the basic skills, responsibilities, and expertise needed to do all required work as an Electrician, while helping Journeymen and other employees with their tasks and contributing to operations. Over the course of time, the Apprentice’s skills will increase, and they will take more ownership of jobs and how they are run, dependent on their abilities. Typical decision-making or problem solving required for this position includes:
- Deciding on the best methods for visualizing, measuring, and estimating work as appropriate for the job situation
- Defining and labeling wires, conduits, and apparatus in order to avoid shock/electrocution
- Deciding on best routing options for conduit, wires, and other systems
- Industrial experience – measuring, cutting, threading of Rigid, and IMC conduit.
- Assisting newer/fellow Apprentices with orientation and learning
- Attending Required Meetings, including Safety Meetings
- Controlling inventory on jobsite, and in/out of stock (for active jobs)
- Loading materials, lifts, trailers, and other equipment
- Performing field work/installations
- Performing Vehicle Maintenance
- Responsible for ensuring the work area is clean and all required safety measures are taken
Requirements:
- Currently registered as an Electrical Apprentice in the state of California
- Valid Driver’s License
- Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, and Forklift training
- Knowledge of foot bender and hydraulic bender
