The New Jersey Attorney General’s office is looking for litigator to assistant with the supervision of the Antitrust Section of the Affirmative Civil Enforcement Practice Group for the Division of Law in Newark, NJ. The position will be appointed as a Deputy Attorney General 2 with a functional title of Assistant Section Chief with an annual salary between $114,415.39 to $163,799.20. Salary offered is non-negotiable and will fall within the range posted.

As the head of the Department of Law & Public Safety, the Attorney General supervises a wide range of Divisions, Offices, and Commissions, consisting of over 2,800 sworn law enforcement officers, 600 attorneys, and thousands of other public servants.

The Division of Law (DOL) serves as primary legal counsel for New Jersey state government. Generally speaking, this work takes three forms: by providing legal advice to the state’s departments and agencies, by defending the state in civil litigation, and by bringing civil lawsuits against individuals, corporations, and other entities that violate the law and harm New Jersey and its residents. Staffed by nearly 500 attorneys, DOL’s responsibilities cover a broad swath of legal issues, including those involving banking, child protection, corrections, education, environmental, finance, health, insurance, taxation, and transportation matters.

The Affirmative Civil Enforcement Practice Group includes ten sections: Antitrust, Civil Rights, Consumer Fraud Prosecution, Data Privacy and Cybersecurity, Environmental Enforcement and Environmental Justice, Government & Healthcare Fraud, Labor Enforcement, Professional Boards Prosecution, Securities Fraud Prosecution and Special Litigation.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Attorneys General in the Affirmative Civil Enforcement Practice Group, and the Section Chief of the Antitrust Section, the Assistant Section Chief will be responsible for:
· Provide counsel and representation to the Section's clients;
· Assists with planning and managing the supervision and operations of the Section;
· Assigns matters and supervise Deputy Attorneys General in the Section;
· Negotiates and drafts transactional documents, as needed;
· Litigates and supervises litigation, as needed;
· Evaluates the performance of assigned Deputy Attorneys General;
· Conducts case file reviews;
· Will perform other related duties as assigned.

· Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor.
· Admission to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New Jersey is required.
· Four (4) years of experience as a practicing attorney, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.

· Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
· Candidates should submit a supplemental document, included with your resume, outlining (a) litigation experience in State and Federal courts; and (b) supervisory experience over other attorneys.
