SALARY:
The salary range for this position is $75,625.44 to $122,579.04 for Schedule A, and $75,625.44 to $116,450.09 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to August 29, 2015, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after August 29, 2015, are considered Schedule B.

The Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) is assisting the Pretrial Services Unit to conduct home checks for certain pretrial defendants subject to home detention. To that end, ISP is adding a new unit to exclusively conduct fieldwork to complete the required pretrial home checks for eligible pretrial defendants. Essential to achieving this mission is the development of an effective partnership with the vicinage Pretrial Services Units to communicate the pretrial home check results and to openly discuss any issues of mutual interest.

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual with strong organizational awareness, decision-making, planning and evaluating, customer service, and leadership skills to join the Office of Probation Services, Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) Pretrial Home Check Unit in the Northern Regional Office (Montclair, NJ). Under the general direction of the Regional Manager (Court Executive 2B). The selected individual must be able to handle a variety of technical and client support functions in a fast-paced office and field environment.

ISP Court Services Supervisors work a 40-hour work week and an alternate schedule which includes nights and weekends. Further, although this position is located in the ISP Northern Regional Office (Montclair, NJ), travel to the Central Office (Trenton, NJ) and other Judiciary locations may be required. It should also be noted that fieldwork will primarily be conducted in the region in which the individual will be hired. However, statewide fieldwork may be required ad deemed necessary based upon operational need.

Special Note: ISP is a statewide program. Management reserves the right to reassign employees based on operational needs.

REMOTE WORK: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Example of Duties

  • Assign, monitor, evaluate, review, lead, and oversee the work in both the office and in the field for activities and staff resources.
  • Represent ISP on various internal and external committee groups related to the pretrial home check initiative.
  • Oversee a team consisting of professional, paraprofessional, and support staff employees with the responsibility for assigning work.
  • Implement and ensure sustainability of Judiciary and ISP policy and procedure and hold staff accountable for same.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders and direct and coordinate work between units or teams.
  • Effectively communicate pretrial home check results and issues of mutual concern to various vicinage Criminal
  • Division Pretrial Services Unit staff statewide.
  • Provide field caseload coverage as needed
  • Communicate human resources policies, rules, or regulations to team members; schedule team members work hours or vacation time; conduct formal work performance evaluations with staff; evaluate unit or team performance and mediate staff conflicts.
  • Review and correct the work of staff for accuracy and completeness; enforce court orders and monitor financial collections.
  • Provide superior customer service within and outside the Judiciary in addition to any other assignments as they are presented.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and five years of professional experience, two years of which shall have included experience in calendar management; case management; enforcement of court orders; and/or supervision, monitoring and intervention of offenders.

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of general experience as indicated above –OR– a law degree may be substituted for two years of general experience as indicated above.

Supplemental Information

Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
