New Professions Technical Institute recognizes the importance of the Faculty members in achieving its mission. In fact, the Institution regards Faculty members as the key elements in providing a high level of academic quality. Consequently, the person in this position is held fully responsible for all the academic activities and other personal factors that may affect in any way the level of success of the teaching-learning process. A person appointed as a Faculty member at New profession Technical Institute must maintain professional competence, ensure personal knowledge consistent with the current trends if the career field related to teaching activities, develop an appropriate environment to promote and facilitate the participation of the students in the teaching-learning process, maintain a professional attitude, actively participate in faculty meeting and committees with the objective of discussing problems and proposing solutions that may improve academic efficiency, and follow the policies and procedures set by the school which are designed to ensure a high level of success in achieving the mission of New Professions Technical Institute.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Every person appointed as a Faculty member at New Professions Technical Institute must accept and comply with the following duties and responsibilities:
- Understand the mission of New Professions Technical Institute, and commit efforts and promote activities consistent with the objectives of the Institution.
- Verify that each student in each class assigned has the official course syllabus.
- Teach students in class assigned according to the official course syllabus.
- Make students aware that the syllabus contains detailed information about the general and specific objectives to be covered throughout the duration of the academic course, becoming the subject matter to be tested in an effort to assess the knowledge and/or skills acquired as a result of the academic training.
- Inform students about the class requirements and expectations as well as classroom policies and procedures such as attendance in class, tardiness, class cuts, and leave of absence.
- Plan, organize, and conduct each class assigned in a professional manner. The method of teaching must be constantly adjusted to ensure a high quality and effectiveness of the teaching-learning process.
- Design homework and other assignments to facilitate the learning and understanding of the course’s objectives.
- Treat students equally and fairly.
- Encourage active participation of student in class discussion of the subject matter being taught.
- Encourage critical thinking and intellectually challenge students.
- Assess student progress regularly and maintain records of all grades.
- Counsel and advise students on their academic progress and other academic matters.
- Monitor students with personal problems that impede the progress of their academic performance and when this situation is considered a serious problem, refer them to the Director of Education.
- Keep accurate records of student attendance. When a student has been absence from class for one (1) week, it is considered that such student has an attendance problem and the incident must be reported immediately to the Director of Education by completing and submitting the “STUDENT INCIDENT REPORT” form.
- Instruct students in each class assigned to complete the evaluation forms “STUDENT SURVEY OF ACADEMIC COURSE EFFECTIVENESS”,”STUDENT SURVEY OF TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS” and the “STUDENT PEER REFERRALS FORM” during the schedule set up for that purpose and submit them to the Director of education.
- Complete the evaluation forms “FACULTY SURVEY OF ACADEMIC COURSE EFFECTIVENESS” and “FACULTY SURVEY OF ACADEMIC PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS” during the schedule set up for that purpose and submit them to the Director of Education. The objective is to assist the Institution in revising the effectiveness of the academic course and programs offered in relation to the current trends of the career fields that they related to.
- Complete the ‘STUDENT GRADE REPORT” for each class assigned and submit them to Director of Education at the end of each academic tern.
- Submit the “STUDENT ATTENDANCE REPORT” for each student and the ‘ROLL BOOK” for each class assigned to the Director of Education at the end of each academic term.
- Sign and immediately return the signed copy of every memorandum received.
- Comply with the content of every memorandum received according to the schedule set up for that purpose.
- Attend to all scheduled faculty and in-service meetings, seminars and other external activities that relate to them or when appointed to represent the Institution. In the case of participation in external events, a report of such activities must be submitted to the Director of Education.
- Cooperate with the Institution by providing the Director of Education with up to date documented information and personal view of the latest trends and developments of the career field related to the academic programs offered by the School as well as other professions that could enrich the academic opportunities at New Professions Technical Institute.
- Cooperate with the Institute by participating in faculty committees created to research the market place in order to identify the current training needs. This information is then used to update existing academic programs and/or to create new ones, providing the business community with real solution to their employment problems.
- Maintain order and discipline in class at all times.
- Notify the Director of Education if they must be absent from classes.
- Display a good attitude toward their work and toward New Professions Technical Institute. They are expected to be professional in their conduct, personal appearances, and relationships with other faculty members.
- Represent New Professions Technical Institute, in and of the premises, with a high degree of professionalism in matters that relate to conduct, dress, and ethics.
- Be punctual for all classes and to conduct the class for the entire period of time as shown on the class schedule.
- Consult with and submit reports to the Director of Education when the situation demands such action.
- Abide by the rules and regulations of New Professions Technical Institute as they relate to employees of the Institute.
Education is the ultimate objective of New Professions Technical Institute. Achieving a high level of success in this task is the responsibility of everyone who works for New Professions Technical Institute. However, Faculty members play the most important role in this process, since they are directly responsible for conducting and effecting teaching-learning activities. The quality of the education provide to students is directly related to the quality of instruction and professionalism of every faculty member. Consequently, every Faculty member is responsible for maintaining these qualities according to the highest standards.
