Executive Director

The New River Gateway Convention & Visitor Bureau, aka Explore Summers County, is a destination marketing organization focused on promoting tourism in Summers County, West Virginia. We are actively seeking a full-time Executive Director. This individual will show a positive attitude with a high level of energy, creativity, and professionalism in order to effectively promote tourism in Summers County. The director’s primary responsibility is to grow tourism-related revenues through the effective use of strategic planning, leadership skills, community assets, industry knowledge and relationships, along with evolving tourism practices. The ability to work collaboratively with various individuals and organizations is necessary, as are the skills to work independently without direct supervision. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or education in marketing and public relations. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter and resume.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors, is the primary spokesperson for the CVB, and is responsible for the general management and leadership of the organization.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Direct and lead the CVB toward its mission.
• Work directly with the Board of Directors on strategy for the organization.
• Attend all meetings of the Board.
• Oversee all administrative, operating, and marketing functions of the Bureau.
• Manage all aspects of the visitor center.
• Produce monthly reports for the Board and annual reports as required by law.
• Develop and maintain effective organizational policies and ensure all activities are implemented within these established policies, guidelines, laws, and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with local, regional, and state businesses, organizations, and individuals to promote tourism within Summers County.
• Represent the CVB at selected local, state, regional, and national events and conventions.
• Responsibilities may include other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to make effective presentations
• Public speaking
• Creative writing for content of promotional materials, newsletters, press releases, and social media
• Graphic design and website maintenance knowledge

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year

• 8 hour shift
