POSITION SCOPE:
The Superintendent is responsible for day to day management of the job as a member of the J. Davis project team. From the field, you will coordinate the activities of crew members, ensure safety and quality control standards are being met and solve problems as they arise to ensure the timely completion of a project.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees all facets of the crew assigned including quality of work
- Assist Project Manager, or Division Manager, with estimating and preconstruction as needed
- Assists Project Manager with updating of schedule
- Coordinates Release of Delivery of materials associated with work and other subs as needed when on site
- Record daily logs and job site analysis into Procore
- Give clear directions to Foremen/Crew Assigned as to what needs to be done to avoid rework
- Act as a leader and supervisor
- Represent the company in meetings with owners, clients and sub-contractors
- Direct sub-contractors and maintain material inventory
- Ensure compliance with company policy and procedure
- Perform safety and quality control audits, per company policy
- Responsible for all safety enforcement on project per policy
- Approve time off requests for Foremen and Crew Members (Notify General Superintendent)
- Every Friday by close of business (preferably daily) log into exact time to verify all time charged is accurate in duration and cost code to all jobs assigned
- Provide Division Manager with Status Report, weekly
- Responsible for the safe operation of equipment and operations on the job site
- Implements the project plan as planned
- Assigns crew members to daily tasks and equipment assigned to job
- Responsible to report to the shop daily to pick up any crew members assigned for commute to project
- Ensures equipment hours are recorded on daily reports and accessible for General Superintendent to turn in weekly
- Ensures equipment inspections sheets are filled out daily in Procore
- Ensures machines are properly greased daily
- Reports maintenance or operation issues with equipment to General Superintendent
- Fixes minor issues with equipment, where capable, to ensure production goals are met
- Maintain receipts for all job-related purchase and turn receipts in to Project Manager
- Perform job site hazard analysis every morning with crew before work begins on project
- Responsible for maintaining and submitting working hours for themselves and crew members
- Handles employee disputes on the jobsite and makes recommendations to General Superintendent for disciplinary action
- Serves as the customers point of contact on the job site
- Interact with customer, on the job, and resolve any customer issues with J. Davis management
- Advises General Superintendent of all equipment needs or breakdowns
AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
Understanding of the materials, means and methods of grading, road construction, utility construction and equipment operation and maintenance
Ability to read engineered drawings and blueprints
Ability to operate grading equipment
Ability to operate GPS equipment
Understanding of Microsoft Office Applications
Knowledge and understanding of Procore
Familiarity with smart phone and tablet
