What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strategic Planning Project Manager position at New York Botanical Garden?
The Strategic Planning Project Manager manages the strategic planning process for the institution. This project management role will focus on managing the engagement of a variety of stakeholder groups against an overarching timeline to ensure the process moves forward effectively.
The position is responsible for maintaining timelines, facilitating work sessions, and coordinating deliverables at each stage of the strategic planning process. The individual will be a collaborative and nuanced communicator with strong project management skills. Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The position will work with Garden management on a two-year strategic and master planning process to:
- Develop the institution’s next strategic plan through an in-depth, strategic planning process to identify priorities, initiatives, and associated plans of action.
- Work with the President and the Chief Operating Officer to execute a strategic planning process with multiple stakeholder groups. The position may be tasked with managing committees, work groups, or teams of staff, and consultants to address and analyze specific initiatives.
- Work with Board members to schedule meetings and prepare presentations to be made at Board meetings.
- Collect and analyze bench-marking data from comparable institutions.
- Write and produce various planning and business presentation documents.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated skills in project management, team collaboration, research and oral and written communication.
- Familiarity with strategic planning and financial models.
- Working knowledge of nonprofit structures, stakeholder groups, and business models.
- Relevant business administration experience; prior strategic planning experience a plus.
Commensurate with experience within the following range: $85,000-$100,000 annually.
