What are the responsibilities and job description for the Covid Safety Monitor position at New York City Ballet?
The David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center opened in April 1964 as the New York State Theater. The theater was designed by the renowned architect Philip Johnson, built with funds from the State of New York, and given to the City of New York as a home for performing arts organizations. Today, the theater is home to the New York City Ballet as well as a growing number of national and international touring performing arts groups.
The on-site COVID Safety Monitor (“CSM”) is responsible for implementing New York City Ballet’s (“NYCB”) and David H. Koch Theater’s (“DHKT”) COVID testing protocols for its personnel. The CSM confirms and reports COVID test results and clears personnel for on-site work. The CSM also has the responsibility to implement NYCB/DHKT protocols for individuals testing positive for COVID-19. The CSM works under the guidance of the COVID Safety Manager in tracking individual test results and maintaining a presence in the DHKT testing room. The CSM does not administer COVID tests to individuals. The CSM visually confirms individuals “self-testing” and processes tests for results. This role is a Part-Time / Temporary position, and is based on the rehearsal, performance and event schedule of the David H. Koch Theater. CSM’s are generally scheduled for 4-6 hour shifts at a time (15-24 hours weekly) based on availability. Hours can vary weekly and will include morning, afternoon and/or evening, weekend and holiday shifts based on the CSM’s availability.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of the COVID Safety Manager, communicate COVID related policies, testing schedule and contact tracing communications.
- Assist the COVID Safety Manager in on-site testing.
- Track and maintain testing results for the company.
- Perform contact tracing within NYCB community.
- Function as a resource for day to day COVID safety and compliance questions.
- Communicate to staff about COVID related safe practices and protocols, testing schedules and act as a companywide resource for COVID-19 safety information.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to interact with staff in a congenial and professional manner.
- Health related or theater background preferred.
- Proven organizational skills including scheduling, time management and logistics.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Facility with MS Office and Google Workspace environments.

Time Commitment
- Work hours vary and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and other scheduled work periods as necessary, based on the CSM’s availability and work slot assignment.
