General Statement of Position:
Under EC Director supervision, performs a variety of evaluative, supportive, and supervisory tasks system-wide in assisting the teachers of students with disabilities. Specialist may perform a wide range of tasks to support the supervision of EC teachers and ensure the compliance of the regulations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Specialist provides individual assistance to teachers with training and EC paperwork compliance and may lead group and individual professional development activities as directed. Specialist provides support and monitoring for schools with interventions including MTSS, behavior strategies and in implementing PBIS. Specialist assists EC teachers and principals, as designated by EC Director.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education
Master’s Degree (preferred)
Minimum of five years classroom teaching experience
Salary:
Teacher Salary, 10 month employment
Essential Functions:
- Audit and review EC folders and paperwork to ensure compliance with IDEA
- Ensure fidelity of EC programs
- Assist EC Director in ensuring fidelity of EC personnel and performance
- Conduct professional development on EC regulation and procedures
- Liaison between school, community, private schools, and other outside agencies
- Perform data checks at schools
- Facilitate continuous Improvement Performance Plan (CIPP) audit and submission
- Develop and maintain EC Procedural Manual
- Provide essential support for new EC teachers
- Attend Professional Development at local and state functions
Specific Duties:
- Attend IEP and other EC related meetings as needed
- Provide support to principals regarding EC and behavior, MTSS, PBIS regulations and procedures as requested
- Assist EC Director in monitoring and supervision of admissions/entry into self-contained programs
- Administer educational tests to students as needed
- Maintain testing materials inventory
- Organize and provide/deliver professional development to teachers as needed
- Assist with planning county-wide EC meeting
- Conduct student observations
- Organize and facilitate transition meetings
- Organize and communicate information regarding deadlines
- Share school and district discipline data as required
- Conduct fidelity checks on PBIS and PRC 29
- Assist in data collection
- Provide services aimed at preventing crisis situations through offering supportive interventions, conflict resolution, and problem solving strategies
- Facilitate training appropriate personnel who are associated with behavior support classrooms
- Provide training with PRC 29 referral procedures, weekly documentation, and exiting procedures
- Provide instructional support for EC teachers
- Liaison for autism support and behavior support
- Support and encourage teachers to grow professionally
- Assist schools (administration, teachers, etc.) in resolving non-compliance as well as crisis situations in regards to EC law
- Provide training and support to PBIS teams
- Assist with Crisis Prevention (CPI) training
- Other duties as assigned
