Job Description:
Provide nursing care, health education and promotion for patients and families in the ambulatory outpatient care setting utilizing a systematic approach incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Registered nurses will perform case management, patient education, and telephone triage for patients with asthma, allergic and immunologic disorders. Nurses will administer allergen immunotherapy, immunizations, oral and respiratory medications and practice in accordance with Health Care Provider orders, established policies and procedures, and the values stated by the Allergy and Asthma Medical Group vision and mission.
Registered nurses ensure all care is provided in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act and all other regulatory entities. Nurses utilize the nursing process which is based on research and evidence-based outcomes to meet patient care needs. Nurses will collaborate with other disciplines of the health care team in order to ensure the effective delivery of care along the health care continuum and are responsible for providing a safe environment for the patients and staff. Demonstrate competence in working with diverse populations of any age and uphold standards of care and professional regulatory standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform the following basic competencies: Provision of age-specific care, completion of general nursing competencies through annual skills review and additional specific competencies.
- Maintain professionalism throughout all aspects of in person or telephone interactions with patients and co-workers.
- Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) incorporating interdisciplinary needs, patient/family goals, and cultural/spiritual beliefs.
- Accurately documents patient care services, nursing activity, and the patient’s response in EHR.
- Demonstrate effective patient teaching skills using one-on-one interventions and written Allergy and Asthma Medical Group supportive material.
- Manage all aspects of patient appointment including rooming of patients, nursing assessments, setting priorities, organizing testing and treatment process. Anticipates, initiates, and coordinates prescriptions/orders/referrals.
- Manage telephone communications including: assessing patient needs over the phone, prioritizing urgent to non-urgent calls, providing appropriate nursing advice, directing patient to appropriate level of care, communicating status to Health Care Provider, addressing prescription requests, and documenting actions in EHR.
- Administer immunotherapy safely and ensure all antigens are up to date and within expiration date.
- Ensure adequate Emergency supplies are in stock and current.
- Demonstrate professionalism as evidenced by positive problem solving, utilization of available resources, and respecting/acknowledging team effort.

Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of registered nursing experience.
- Current license as a registered nurse in the state of California.
- Fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice
- Health screening and TB Test clearance.
- Authorized to work in the US.
