Minimum Education:
High School or Technical Degree/Certificate Program
Work Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role
Job Duties:
Provide extensive assistance to attorneys in a busy professional legal office that handles Federal and State litigation.
Prepare correspondence and all relevant case materials for the record.
Manage electronic files for NYMatters, including scanning, transferring documents, and updating and maintaining case files.
Conduct document review, including the use of electronic discovery tools.
Assist assigned attorney with State and Federal trials.
Serve subpoenas or arrange service.
Obtain and review medical records.
Review received discovery demands and collaborate with the attorney to prepare responses.
Assist in the review and redaction of documents for production in response to discovery demands.
Conduct legal research using various legal source materials, including Westlaw, Federal Court Pacer, and NY Courts E-Filing.
Review administrative records in Article 78 proceedings.
Draft and assemble legal documents, such as notices, exhibits, correspondence, judgments, and subpoenas.
Analyze and process interim and dispositive decisions and orders.
Prepare final documents for file closing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of Relativity EDiscovery platform.
Misc. Information:
Work schedule: 100% on-site, Monday to Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM, 37.5 hours per week.
