Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to recipes and standards
- Measure and mix ingredients, using various kitchen utensils and equipment
- Bake, fry, or cook pastries and desserts to ensure they are properly cooked and have the desired texture and flavor
- Decorate pastries and desserts with icing, glazes, toppings, or other decorative elements
- Monitor oven temperatures and adjust settings as needed to ensure proper baking or cooking times
- Ensure that all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed during the preparation and handling of pastries
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate pastry production with overall menu planning and preparation
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking necessary ingredients and supplies
Skills:
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering environment as a pastry cook or similar role
- Knowledge of culinary techniques and principles, particularly in the area of pastry production
- Proficiency in using various kitchen tools and equipment, including knives, mixers, ovens, and pastry bags
- Understanding of food handling procedures to ensure proper storage, preparation, and serving of pastries
- Familiarity with food safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
