Job Description: Ninyo & Moore Geotechnical & Environmental Sciences Consultants has an opening for a Certified Engineering Geologist in our Irvine, CA office. The successful candidate will perform the following activities (title/level and responsibilities will depend on experience): a) Prepare and review geologic maps and cross sections, conduct geologic site reconnaissance and subsurface evaluations, logging of small and large-diameter borings and test pits for evaluation of subsurface soil and geologic conditions, and performing construction observation services. b) Prepare and review scope of services, cost breakdowns, and proposals for geotechnical design and construction projects. c) Review and assist project managers with the accumulation and compilation of geotechnical data including background information, review of geotechnical geohazard maps and fault maps, review and interpretation of aerial photographs, and boring and test pit logs. d) Prepare and oversee field logistics and subcontract management. e) Prepare and review professional geotechnical reports for private industry and governmental agencies. f) Participate in the supervision, training, and mentoring of staff, senior staff, and project level professionals. g) Review contract documents and prepare and review project invoicing. h) Review and implement technical protocols and procedures in accordance with company operating procedures. i) Travel to job sites and meetings with clients, agencies, and third parties.
Education: B.A./B.S.(M.S. preferred) in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geological Engineering.
Required Skills: The successful candidate should have experience with a geotechnical consulting firm or government agency performing duties described above. Candidate should have a thorough understanding and knowledge of soils classification, engineering geologic description, and field mapping. Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Must be able to work both independently and as a team member. Must have a current valid driver's license.
Required Certifications: California Professional Geologist (PG), California Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG).
